CHOLAM ( SORGHUM) DOSA MIX
Indulge in a nutritious and gluten-free twist to your dosa routine with Cholam or Sorghum Dosa. Packed with the wholesome goodness of sorghum flour, this recipe offers a unique and flavorful alternative to traditional dosas.
Ingredients:
To create this Cholam or Sorghum Dosa Mix, gather the following ingredients:
1 cup cholam (sorghum) flour
1/2 cup rice flour
1/4 cup urad dal (black gram dal) flour
Water
Salt to taste
Oil for cooking
Preparation:
In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of cholam flour, 1/2 cup of rice flour, and 1/4 cup of urad dal flour. Mix the dry ingredients thoroughly for an even blend. Gradually add water while stirring to achieve a smooth batter with a consistency similar to regular dosa batter. Allow the batter to rest for at least 4-6 hours or overnight for fermentation. This not only enhances the flavor but also makes the dosas more digestible. Before making dosas, add salt to taste and adjust the batter's consistency with water if needed. Heat a non-stick pan or griddle and pour a ladleful of batter onto it, spreading it in a circular motion to form a thin layer. Drizzle a little oil along the edges for a crisp texture. Once the edges turn golden brown, flip the dosa and cook the other side until it's thoroughly cooked.
Serve:
Serve the Cholam or Sorghum Dosas hot with coconut chutney or sambar for a nutritious and delightful breakfast or snack.
This recipe not only caters to gluten-free preferences but also introduces a delightful and healthy spin on the classic dosa experience. Enjoy the goodness of sorghum in every bite!
