Simple Rava Upma
Ingredients:

1 cup Rava (Semolina)

2 cups Water

1/4 cup Chopped Onions

1/4 cup Chopped Vegetables (carrots, peas, or your choice)

2 tbsp Oil or Ghee
-
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
-
1 tsp Urad Dal (Black gram lentils)
-
1 tsp Chana Dal (Split chickpeas)

1-2 Green Chilies, chopped
-
A few Curry Leaves

A pinch of Asafoetida (Hing)

Salt, to taste

Chopped Coriander Leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions:

Roast Rava:

In a dry pan, roast rava on medium heat until it turns golden brown. Set it aside.

Prepare Vegetables:

In the same pan, heat oil or ghee. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, and chana dal. Let them splutter.

Add chopped onions, green chilies, and curry leaves. Sauté until onions become translucent.

Add chopped vegetables and cook for a few minutes until they are slightly tender.

Cook Rava:

Pour water into the pan and bring it to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and gradually add the roasted rava, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.

Add asafoetida and salt. Mix well.

Simmer:

Cover the pan with a lid and let it simmer on low heat for 5-7 minutes or until the rava is cooked and the upma reaches the desired consistency.

Garnish and Serve:

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves if desired.
